Data provided by members, exhibitors and competitors will be held securely by either the Membership Secretary, the General Secretary or the relevant Section Secretary.

What is the purpose of keeping this data?

  1. To know the name of the member/exhibitor/competitor, and if a current membership or entry fee has been made.
  2. To be able to communicate with members/exhibitors/competitors by:

  4. Post
  5. Telephone
  6. Text
  7. To enable the Society to send out information relating to
  8. Membership
  9. Show Organisation
  10. Section Schedules
  11. To maintain records for payment.

We do not:

  • Data share with other organisations (regardless of whether data is sold or exchange is free)
  • Research data on members/exhibitors/competitors, regardless of whether data is obtained from the public domain, or from a publicly accessible source: (including attempting to find out information about a person’s financial position, property, previous donations or their propensity for giving).
  • Acquire data from third parties – including details of prospective donors, acquiring data to flesh out existing or prospective donor records.
  • Send out marketing materials except for information about events.

Removal of Data:

The Society will delete information received after two years, unless required to be retained for statutory purposes.

You may withdraw your consent to receiving information by e-mail, post, phone or text at any time by notifying the Membership Secretary, the General Secretary or the relevant Section Secretary.

Bury and District Agricultural Show Access Statement

All visitors regardless of their physical, sensory or mental capacity are welcome to attend our show. However attention must be drawn to the location of the Showground (Burrs Country Park) and the limitation that this can impose.

We want our one day agricultural show to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. Therefore we aim to provide a quality service within these limitations and strive to continually improve our accessibility.

This access statement aims to accurately describe the services and facilities that are available to our visitors, it does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with disabilities

CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR BURY AND DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SHOW
AT BURRS COUNTRY PARK, WOODHILL ROAD, BURY. BL8 1DA

Administration
1. R Kershaw & K Southwell are designated show organiser and responsible record keeper.
2. They will keep a record of the names, addresses, telephone number and email of exhibitors
for 3 years in case that tracing is required.
3. Section Leads and Trustees are to ensure that arrangements are in place to provide
sufficient food and water for all animals on site for the duration of a complete disease
investigation.

Action in the event of an Outbreak of a Notifiable Disease
1. Any animal that has a suspected illness is to be reported in the first instance to the Section
Lead who will contact one of the show organisers who will contact the nominated veterinary
surgeon.
2. The nominated veterinary surgeon is Phil Massey of Ribble Vets who is contactable by
telephone on 07878665309 or in the cattle marquee.
3. In the event that an animal is suspected of having an infectious disease it is to be
immediately removed to one of the isolation pens as identified on the showground map.
4. The isolation area is to be cordoned off and a strict control of entry policy enforced until
such time that a DEFRA official or veterinary surgeon gives clearance.

5. At the closure of the show all exhibitors are to be advised of the suspected outbreak of
disease and to ensure they quarantine their show exhibits from their other stock at home for
a minimum of 7 days. Should anyone thereafter suspect that their stock has contracted a
notifiable disease then they are to contact their Animal Health office immediately.

Biosecurity Measures
1. All cattle/sheep/goat areas and pens must be cleansed and disinfected before the event and
be cleansed and disinfected on return to the home premises before they are used again.
2. A record of the event organised must be kept for at least 3 months. This must include the
name, address, telephone number and email of the exhibitor and the individual ear tag
number of the animals
3. All litter and manure within the animal are must be contained until disposal. Any spillages
outside the area must be disposed of in a manner which does not present a risk of spread of
disease.
4. Arrangements must be in place for distributing biosecurity advice to all exhibitors to include
disinfectant areas.
5. If any animal was to be fatally injured or deceased this will be removed by a local animal
disposal company.
